3 – tanakai SrI rAmAvatAramettitivO – did You incarnate as Lord SrI rAma for my sake? This kind of bhAva (state of mind) where SrI tyAgarAja virtually 'becomes' prahlAda (or prahlAda 'becomes' tyAgarAja?) is seen some other kRtis of 'prahlAda bhakti vijayaM' also.


This kRti forms part of dance-drama 'prahlAda bhakti vijayaM'.

Re ; daya rAni-mOhanaM
I am right now at BengaLru. My nephew's wife pointed out to me the following typographical error in C 10. ಮೂಡು ಮೂರ್ತುಲಕಾದಿ ಮೂಲಮು . It is given as mADu mArtulakAdi mAlamu.
Kindly check up the software settings as similar errors may be occurring elsewhere

I have checked the blog. The version given is 'ಮೂಡು ಮೂರ್ತುಲಕಾದಿ ಮೂಲಮು' This is 'mUDu mUrtuluku mUlamu'. However,if it should be 'mADu mArtulaku mAlamu', it would look like - 'ಮಾಡು ಮಾರ್ತುಲಕಾದಿ ಮಾಲಮು'

Dear Sri Govindan

Earlier I thought that musicians were singing this as “dayara nI dayarA”. I understood this as “Grace! This is Your grace”.
In TTD book this is given as “dayarAnI dayarAnI dayarAnI dAsarathI”.
On second reading I have few doubts.
You have mentioned that “SrI tyAgarAja depicts how prahlAda felt after having had darSan of the Lord.”. The wordings are in first person. Are these statements to be taken as those of Prahlada or ThyagarAjA? Taking these as PrahlAdA’s statements seems to be correct.
Pallavi pleads for the grace of rAmA (vishnu). But caraNams 3,5,6 & 7 clearly mention that prhladA already had the darSanam of the Lord. CaraNams 8 & 9 also confirm this. Then what more grace is he asking for?
CaraNam 7 is not clear.

Dear Sri Govindaswamy,
In order to understand the full meaning of what prahlAda wants to convey, one should go through the prose part of the dance-drama also. Unfortunately, I have not so far undertaken the task. By Lord's grace, I propose to undertake the same in another year's time, by when I would have posted all the kRtis in the revised format.

Regarding your specific query about the kind of grace desired by prahlAda, this is explained in the prose portion following kRti 'daya sEyavayya'; prahlAda asks the Lord to grant him the same kind of bhakti as sIta has towards the Lord - anurAga.

There are many kRtis through which tyAgarAja depicts the dialogue between prahlAda and the Lord. This is one of the kRtis.

The meaning of caraNa 7 is not very clear and there seems to be no specific reference in the prose either regarding this caraNa.

I shall be forwarding to you separately, the complete list of kRtis in the dance-drama 'prahlAda bhakti vijayam'
