In the kRti ‘ipuDaina nanu talacinArA’ – rAga Arabhi (miSra cApu tALa), SrI tyAgarAja depicts the statement made by prahlAda to sage nArada when the latter conveys to prahlAda the conversation between Lord vishNu and Mother lakshmI.

(Words of prahlAda addressed to sage nArada)
- At least now, has the Great Lord – benefactor of tyAgarAja - thought of me! Did He laud me to be eligible for His grace!
- I listened, nicely, to the booty of all the words about me, graciously uttered by the Lord, to my Mother; today my mind has become very cool because of You.
- I aspired for the highest (form of) grace; I was undergoing sufferings; today I beheld You as a feast to my eyes; I heard words which are nectarine to my ears.
- Even if He, assuming various forms, watches the fun, by afflicting me, and/or even if He torments me many a times, all the merits and demerits are unto Lord hari only; what else can I say?
- I shall not be born in the Earth again and again; I have trusted Lord hari; I cannot forbear the delay.

At least now, has the Lord thought of me! Did He laud me to be eligible for His grace!

I aspired (Asa koNTi) for the highest (unnata) (form of) grace (dayaku) (dayakAsakoNTi); I (nEnu) was undergoing (pAlaiyuNTi) sufferings (bannamulaku);
today (nEDu) I beheld (kaNTi) You (mimu) as a feast to my eyes (kannulAra); I heard (viNTi) words (mATa) which are nectarine (amRtapu) to my ears (karNa) (karNAmRtapu);
At least now, has the Lord (svAmi) thought of me! Did He laud me to be eligible for His grace!

Even if He (tAnu), assuming (bUni) various (palu) forms (rUpamulu), watches (jUcina) the fun (vEDka), by afflicting (bAdhinci) me (nannu), and/or
even if He torments (Ecina) me (nannu) many a times (palumAru), all the merits (puNya) and demerits (pApamu) are unto (centa) Lord hari only (kAni); what else can I say (Emandu) (kAniyEmandu)?
At least now, has the Lord thought of me! Did He laud me to be eligible for His grace!

tyAgarAja-AptuDu madi lOnu (i)
I shall not (lEnu) be born (puTTaga) in the Earth (bhUmini) again and again (bhUyO bhUyO); I have trusted (namminAnu) Lord hari (harini);
I cannot (lEnu) forbear (tALa) the delay (tAmasamunu);
At least now, has the Great (vara) Lord – benefactor (AptuDu) of tyAgarAja - thought of me in His mind (madi lOnu)! Did He laud me to be eligible for His grace!

Variations –
2 – kRpaku pAtruDanani kIrtincinArA – In some books, this line is given as anupallavi.
3 – mI valla – nI valla. The addressing of sage nArada by prahlAda in caraNa 2 is as ‘mimu kaNTi’ (honorific plural). Therefore, in this caraNa also, it should be ‘mI valla’.
4 – svAmi – This word is not found in some books. This word may be taken as either addressed to sage nArada or about the Lord.

7 – puNya pApamu hari centa – All the merits and demerits are unto the Lord hari. This is the act of surrender (SaraNAgati) in terms SrImad-bhagavad-gITA, Chapter 18 –
sarva dharmAn-parityajya mAm-EkaM SaraNaM vraja
ahaM tvA sarva pApEbhyO mOkshayishyAmi mASucaH 66
Relinquishing all dharmA take refuge in Me alone; I will liberate thee from all sins; grieve not.” (Translation by Swami Swarupananda)
Comments -
1 - ipuDaina nanu talacinArA – Has the Lord thought of me at least now! This is not a question of prahlAda; it is an exclamatory remark about the grace of Lord, based on the message conveyed by sage nArada about conversation between Lord vishNu and lakshmI, wherein the Lord praises the devotion of prahlAda.
5 – palu rUpamulu tAnu bUni – This indicates the state of mind of prahlAda that he did not see anyone other than the Lord in any of the forms – be it His father or others who participated in tormenting him; same is the case with the methods adopted - like poisoning etc - to torment him. This is substantiated by the ensuing statement that ‘puNya pApamu hari centa kAni’ – merits and demerits are unto the Lord hari only.
6 – Ecina – even if He torments – in the books, this word seems to have been translated as ‘cheated’, ‘deceived’. The telugu word ‘Ecu’ does not seem to have such meanings. The similar sounding tamizh word ‘Eyttal’ has such meanings. The telugu meaning has been adopted here, though tamizh meaning is also appropriate.
8 – madi lOnu – This is how it is given in all books. In my humble opinion, this should be ‘madi lOna’.
This kRti forms part of dance-drama ‘prahlAda bhakti vijayaM’.
