Dear Sri Govindan
C-4 – For veracitE you have the meanings as wonder and 'திகைத்தாலோ'. Does not verupu mean fear? If so can we take the meaning as 'if you are faraid of protecing me'
C 9- 'nIku Asinciti sounds a little odd. Is not the meaning ninnu Asinciti? Ana seems to stand alone, unconnected. You have given the meaning as 'I swear' . Swear what?

Dear Sri Govindaswamy,
Re : verapu -
'verapu' means 'fear' and 'surprise' etc. I considered this point while revising the kRti. What kind of fear Lord can have? In the kRti 'bhava nuta', Sri Tyagaraja uses this word, where I have taken the meaning 'astounding'
Accordingly, here also, I think it would not be appropriate to take the meaning of 'fear'.

Re : nIku Asinciti - May be what you say is correct 'ninnu Asinciti'. But it is given as 'nIku Asinciti' in all the books. Therefore, we can't do anything about it.

Re : 'Ana' - this is again a very difficult word to translate into English. After much deliberation,I chose the word 'swear'. These are some of the problems of translating Kritis of Tyagaraja. He uses such words which are only colloquial and we keep wondering as to how to bring out the spirit of what he says.

I am aware that this is inadquate. Keeping in view the meanings of the word 'Ana' which can be exactly translated as 'ஆணை' in Tamil, if you can come up with a better translation for this word, I will consider the same.

Regards,
V Govindan

Namaskaram, can someone please explain me the context of this kṛti?

Shri Pradyumna,
ShrI tyAgarAja has been suffering throughout his life because of his self-imposed austerity as prescribed in scriptures. It is not proper to enter into speculations about the context of the kRti. I have not made any such effort unless it is explicitly given in the kRti itself.
With best wishes,
V Govindan
