Notes –
Variations –
1 – vasudha – vasudhA.

2 – daivamunendu - daivamu nEnendu.

4 – Ayuvunu – Ayuvulu : 'Ayuvunu' seems to be appropriate.

5 – kIrti kalga jEsE - kIrti kalga jEyu.

Comments -
3 – sundarESa – the name of Lord Siva at kOvur near kAncIpuraM

General – According to biography of Tyagaraja, he visited the town of kOvur at the request of one Sundaresa Mudaliar and sang five kRtis on the Lord sundarESa there. Though the wordings ' nI pura vAsamonara jEyu vAri' (those who facilitate residence in your town) seems to be general in nature, it might refer to this devotee (Sundaresa Mudaliar).

Dear Sri Govindan
I have heard this anecdote which could be the imagination of some smart person. “ One of the servants of Sundaresa Mudaliar requested ytAgarAja to sing about his master. tyAgarAjA replied that he would sing not one but five songs about sundarEsA and did so. These are called kOvUr pancaratham.

Dear Sri Govindaswamy,
There is no way I can confirm or deny what you say. But in this kRti, surely, there is an oblique reference to his benefactor by way of 'AsacE ara nimishamu nI pura vAsamonara jEyu vAri'.

Ooh God! As he says Where to find someone of equal stature to the lord, the same way there is no way we can find a Jeevan Muktha equal to this great jnani. How can somebody compose like these until he is not a fully ripened jnani. He is the treasure of India. Tamil Nadu has never seen a prema baktha like him before and will never see again, and probably that’s why many couldn’t understand him and his shudha satvika bhakthi(even today). I feel blessed to have just known about him. I pray he blesses the same prema bhakthi on the lord for us too.
