2 – kamalApta kula kalaSAbdhi candra –It is not clear whether this should be translated as a single epithet as ‘moon born in the ocean of Solar dynasty’ or as two epithets (1) ‘one belonging to the Solar dynasty’ and (2) ‘the moon shining in the milk ocean’.
In the former case, it becomes difficult to translate ‘kalaSAbdhi’ simply as ‘ocean’ as ‘kalaSAbdhi’ actually means ‘milk ocean from where the pitcher of nectar emerged’; in the latter case, it is not clear whether it would be appropriate to call the Lord ‘as moon shining in the milk ocean’.
This has been translated as a single epithet in keeping with the translation found in all the books.

another interpretation of the meaning of the pallavi - one combined word "kamalaaptakulakalasha" - kamalaapta means the SUN, friend of the louts; The Sun's kula/family is suuryavamsha, or, the sun dynasty; kalasha denotes the pot of water usually placed on the top of the sanctum sanctorum (garble guDi) of temples. Overall meaning of this combined word is "most respected person" in the sun's dynasty, which is one adjective to Sri rAma. next combined word is "abdhichandra", which refers to the moons gravitational pull to the water in the sea. abdhi means the ocean; chandra means the moon. when the moon rises the ocean swells. Similarly Sri Rama brings up the names of all belonging to the Sun's dynasty. these two words describe the greatness of Sri Rama.
