Dear Sri Govindan
C- It is a little bit confusing why tyAgarAja is asking ‘parA-
Sakti brOva lEdA’. Why this comparison between mother and son? On the otherhand is he playing pun with the word Sakti, which also means pArvati, because he has asked earlier ‘Sakti nIyeDa niNDAra lEdA’? Does he imply that You have the same power as your mother?

Dear Sri Govindan
P - What is the object of sAdhimpakE? సాక్షి లేదనుచు సాధింపకే and சாட்சியில்லையென சாதிக்காதே are in normal use againt a person who is insisting on something though he is wrong. However “Do not assert that or because there are no witnesses” does not convey this fully. Dear Sri Govindan

Dear Sri Govindaswamy,
Re : parA Sakti brOva lEdA - I do not think there is any deeper meaning to this comparision. It is, in my opinion, to meet the rules of 'prAsa-anuprAsa' Sri Tyagaraja has used 'parA Sakti'.

Re ; sAdhimpakE. As I had elsewhere pointed out, Sri tyAgarAja uses colloquial language very frequently in his kRtis which becomes very difficult to translate. I have faced the same problem in translating the panca ratna kRti 'sAdhincenE'. I agree with you 'do not assert' does not convey fully the real meaning of 'sAdhimpakE' which can be derived in Tamil. But then I will have to give a very longish explanation. It shows 'adamantine attitude'.
I am conscious of the fact the no amount of explanation of Tyagaraja Kritis will ever be satisfying unless we try to get into his 'bhAva'.

Regards,
V Govindan
