I recently heard "prakkala" in place of "pakkala" - is this also another version in telugu language, giving acceptable meaning?

V Govindan said...

Dear Sadashiva,
In many telugu words, 'r' is added after initial consonant. For example - mokku-mrokku; pakka-prakka etc. Accordingly, 'prakkala' is an accepted form of word 'pakkala'.

When ie in what circumstances did Thyagaraja sing this beautiful Kriti? Was there any episode that occasioned the emotions captured so beautifully in this Kriti?

V Govindan said...

Sir,
There are many who attribute various instances which prompted Sri Tyagaraja to sing the song. But the song itself does not reveal any such specific instance. It is suffice to day that Sri Tyagaraja composed a rAga ratna mAlika of rAmAyaNa. I believe that this is part of that 'mAlika'.

In the presence of Sri Rama, the Parabrahman, whatelse can be the experience/ way of serving Him, by Universal Mother,Parasakti and Sri Lakshmana swami, the most evolved devotee, except revelling as one with SaChidAnanda paramAtman. How samkErtana should be is explained in the most beautiful way by Sri Thyagaraja Swamy VAru by using the word 'chanuvuna'. By His Grace only one can understand Him. Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi said, Grace is the beginning, the process and the end of Self/God realisation.Namaskarams.

This kerthana was rendered by Sri Thyagaraja swamy varu, while telling Ayodhya kandam, of Srimath Ramayanam. He felt that Sri Lakshmana swamy and Seethamma went to forest along with Lord Sri Rama for doing service in an isolated area very close to him all the time and where they can only do all the service. He visualised the service of them to the Lord in the forest and requested them ( Sri Lakshmana swamy and Seethamma) in this Keerthana to tell him how they enjoyed the service of the Lord in such close isolated environment.

This great devotion to bhagavan itself is an experimentation within self to understand the universal principles through unconditional devotion and desire to know the spirit of lord Rama. Through the language and music and mind , saint Thyagara is exploring the infinite existence and experiencing the same with his eternal music in lord Rama.
