Raju vedale is one of the 5 'SriRangam pancharatna' krithis, the others being 'O Rangasayi' (Kambodi), 'Juthamu rare' (Arabhi), 'Vina Radaa' (Devagandhari), 'Karuna jooda' (Saranga). Did the bard visit Srirangam on the way to Lalgudi (at the invitation of his disciple Rama Iyer) where also he is said to have composed 5 krithis?
I have in some book, which I am not able to recollect, Raju Vedale Kriti is in the raaga DESYS-TODI and not TODI ? What differences do exist between the above referred two ragas ? Please clarify and intimate.
Dr Rao,
I am not musically qualified to answer your query. Please post your query in www.rasikas.org

Sir,
My Namaskarams to you.
I am an devoted follower of your blogs. I use your blogs for understanding many songs which I would sing earlier with no clue on the meanings. You have really created a wealth of knowledge for students like us.
I have just one comment on this song. Shouldn't the first line
rAju veDale jUtAmu rArE kastUri ranga actually be
rAju veDale cUtAmu rArE kastUri ranga
This is similar in meaning to the song
cUtAmu rArE in Arabhi
Thanks.
Ms Viji,
In Telugu, it is common to use 'j' in place of 'c' - mostly this is colloquial. Therefore, both 'jUtAmu' and 'cUtAmu' are correct.
With best wishes,
V Govindan
Explained in Lucid and detailed fashion. Remarkable job, I have learnt a lot by your efforts. Thanks
